Today was a realization of the way my week in Lake Tahoe would look like, the itinerary started off with a gift shop named “The Potlatch” a gift shop that focused on Native American jewelry and body scents, one of our students Morgan had an interview with the employees who work there following up with her story covering Native American influences in small business in Incline Village. Six of us volunteered to join Morgan as well as using it as a reason to go to a souvenir shop since we have not had the chance to do so.
Our second destination was going to be visiting Sand Harbor, but unfortunately we had two meetings to attend who were only available to fit us in today, which pushed the plans back, but it worked out perfectly because the two organizations we visited today was Tahoe Fund who is a private non-profit organization that helps other organizations fundraise to help the Lake Tahoe basin environment to stay healthy. As well as TRPA Tahoe regional planning agency who manages the environment of the Tahoe Basin, Jeff Cowen is the public information officer and he gave a brief explanation about Lake Tahoe history and the in depth with the California and Nevada side as well as, answering questions we all had.
After all, our final destination was Nevada Beach. However, another student and I decided not to go and instead returned to the cabin with Professor James. We took some time to cool down and relax before the rest of the group returned and we all headed out to dinner together.
