Finding Strength in History and the Outdoors

Austin Hays is a journalism senior at Texas State University who enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. One of his favorite hobbies is working out, and he has set a personal goal this year to become stronger and improve his fitness habits. He enjoys the discipline and consistency that come with maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

When he is not in the gym, Austin can often be found reading about church history, particularly Western Latin Catholic history, a subject that has become one of his strongest interests. His appreciation for history and tradition has inspired him to continue learning about cultures and events that have shaped the modern world.

Austin's passion for the outdoors began during his time as a Boy Scout, where he developed a love for hiking and camping. He still makes time to hit the trails whenever possible and tries to go hiking at least once each month. Being outdoors remains one of the highlights of his day and a favorite way to recharge.

In addition to fitness and history, Austin enjoys listening to The Beatles and is a longtime fan of The Lord of the Rings. If given the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world, he would visit the Hagia Sophia in Turkey because of its historical and religious significance. His ideal weekend would include spending time with his girlfriend and searching for hidden treasures while thrifting.
