A Senior's step outside her comfort zone

Annika Quesada, a public relations senior with a criminal justice minor at Texas State University, is ready to step out of her comfort zone before graduating this December. The UTSA transfer student and Uptown Cheapskate employee is using her final months of college to trade brand management for the great outdoors, eager to challenge herself with a fast-paced travel journalism experience.

Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Quesada's roots run deep in Texas. When she isn't catching up on true crime documentaries or horror movies, she can be found spending time with her family or friends. Quesada loves gardening with her grandmother, a recent hobby she picked up during visits home and is a passionate swimmer who thrives near the water, whether relaxing at South Padre Island or spending time at her uncle's lake house in Arroyo City.

Despite her love for the coast, Quesada has never seen nature outside of Texas, having inly hiked once during a Young Life camping trip in Utopia. Her upcoming university trip will be only her second time flying--her first being a milestone trip to New York City. Quesada hopes this journey will help her connect with nature while sharpening her interviewing and reporting skills outside of her usual public relations environment.

Originally a political science major aiming to be a defense attorney, Quesada discovered a new passion for the music business. Her ultimate dream is to move to NYC to work as a celebrity publicist for major artists. For now, she is treating this trip as the perfect opportunity to grow as a storyteller before taking on the entertainment industry.
