Hiking in Color

 Hiking in Color

The journey to Taylor Creek was not long nor strenuous, which seems unfair in contrast to the stunning experience I had. The visitor center is located 3 miles north of South Lake Tahoe, providing tourists and locals alike a convenient hiking spot.

The smell of the pine, the soft caress of the wind, birds chirping as they dance on the branches and the soft trickle of the creek made me feel grounded. That feeling carried over into our watercolor activity, as we accompanied the lapping waves with strokes of paintbrushes.

My painting took on the form of the horizon line hugging the vast blue sky, rolling mountains and emerald sea. I loved feeling the sand under my feet as our teacher guided us through a short meditation. It allowed me to embrace truly being in Lake Tahoe and soak up the gorgeous view a few feet away from me. The guide even let me borrow her hat.

Thank you, Tamara Richey!
